French Jive or "The nearest you get to sex in public... with your clothes on"

French Jive, a style that includes LeJive, Ceroc, LeRoc, Cosmopolitan Jive and a whole load more with pseudo French sounding names began with the LindyHop / Jitterbug / Rock 'n' Roll family tree in the 1930's, took in new Rock 'n' Roll influences in the 1940's, mutated in the 50's and 60's, and was re-introduced into London after a long lapse of time in 1977 with strong overtones of the style that everyone knows as "Dirty Dancing". One of the exciting things about the style is that it is still developing. With every new generation of dancers a different twist or turn gets added, and what 's regarded as a radical move one year quickly becomes part of the established dance cannon before many months are out. Unlike classic Ballroom styles where little changes - this dance form continually moves and changes whilst retaining it's basic form for beginners to pick up on and learn. The basics are in fact easy to learn and it doesn't take long before todays beginner becomes tomorrows innovator.

"Multiple Partner Sex - and Orgasms with your eyes open" - French Jive is a very touchy-feely sort of dance that's almost certainly guaranteed to get you a face slap if you mis-read the signals. All joking apart, it is a very sexy and pleasurable form of close contact sport - but there are rules (within the boundaries of decency)...

Gratuitous groping and touch-ups are worthy of a smack in the mouth (Don't worry - it doesn't happen - dances are violence-free). Dances are safe to go on your own regardless of gender, and if you don't want to go on your own you can take a partner of any persuasion. In short the dance hall is a place to enjoy dancing and close contact with opposite genders (unless you take your own), and a place where you can enjoy hassle free exercise with people who just want to do the same.
